June’s 3rd Saturday explores the theme, “Acts of Independence.” In June 1851, the country was preparing to celebrate 75 years of American Independence. But not everyone living in Arkansas experienced that independence the same way.
By interacting with costumed interpreters and participating in hands-on activities, you’ll find out how Little Rock residents in 1851 claimed their own independence. We’ll be doing laundry, working with natural fibers and textiles, printing, blacksmithing and other trades both professional and domestic.
